In the realm of social media, Facebook holds a significant position, connecting individuals across the globe. We will explore the differences between a locked and disabled account, highlight common reasons for these issues, and guide you on how to use the valuable insights from an article on how to unlock a disabled Facebook account to regain access to your account.

Understanding Locked and Disabled Facebook Accounts:
Before diving into the solutions, it’s crucial to differentiate between a locked and disabled Facebook account:

• Locked Account: A locked account typically occurs when Facebook detects suspicious activity or login attempts that may compromise the security of your account. This can happen if you enter the wrong password multiple times or if someone tries to access your account without your consent.
• Disabled Account: A disabled account is a more severe situation where Facebook has taken action against your account for violating its policies, community standards, or terms of service. This can result from posting inappropriate content, engaging in harassment, or using a fake identity, among other violations.
• Reasons for Account Locking or Disabling:
Facebook takes user safety and the integrity of its platform seriously. Here are some common reasons why your account may be locked or disabled:
• Suspicious Login Activity: If Facebook detects unusual login attempts or login locations, it may temporarily lock your account to prevent unauthorized access.
• Violation of Community Standards: Sharing content that contains hate speech, nudity, violence, or harassment goes against Facebook’s community standards and can lead to account disabling.
• Fake Accounts or Impersonation: Creating a Facebook account using false information or pretending to be someone else can result in account disablement.
• Intellectual Property Infringement: Sharing copyrighted material without proper authorization is a violation of Facebook’s policies and can lead to account suspension.

Using the Article WHAT YOU CAN DO TO UNLOCK A FACEBOOK DISABLED ACCOUNT you will be able to unlock a disabled account.

In the article, there are valuable insights on unlocking a disabled Facebook account. Here’s how you can utilise the information to regain access to your account:

The post IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT: TWITTER INTEGRATION appeared first on Social Wall.

Our Social Wall app has been moved to its own domain. Previously, the login to the Social Wall app dashboard was https://socialwall.com.au/swuser/ and now it’s https://app.socialwall.com.au/swuser/

We decided to do this for a number of reasons, but the main one was so that we can separate the Social Wall website from the Social Wall app. You can read more about the technical reasons here: MIGRATING SOCIAL WALL APP TO ITS OWN DOMAIN

If you’re not aware of what Social Wall is then please continue reading. Social media has become a powerful tool for business owners to promote their brands and connect with their customers. But, it can be difficult to keep up with all the different channels and platforms and to ensure your posts are reaching the right audiences. Social Wall is an effective way to increase engagement and reach by displaying your social media posts on your website or other platforms. They are a great way to curate and showcase your content, and make it easier for customers to find and engage with your content. In this post, we will explore the benefits of using social walls to promote your social media posts and how to get started.

One of the best ways to promote your social media posts is to set up a Social Wall. A Social Wall is a digital display that displays content from social media platforms such as Twitter, YouTube, Pinterest, Instagram, and Facebook. With our custom posts and RSS/XML feed integration, you will also be able to display posts that are not on your social media platforms. It allows you to easily showcase any posts on a large screen, which can be seen by your entire audience. It also helps to create a more interactive experience for viewers, as they can comment and react to your posts in real-time. Setting up a Social Wall is easy, and you can do it with just a few clicks. Check out the user guide to read how you can easily set up your Social Wall.

After you’ve connected your social media accounts, it’s time to start adding posts to the wall. This is the fun part, where you get to showcase your content to visitors on your site or at the event. To add posts to the wall, you simply post on the social platform you selected on the dashboard – yes it’s that simple. On the dashboard, you can choose which social media platform you want to display and your post will be visible on the Social Wall. If you want to add a custom post, then all you need to do is add an image and some text then publish. It’s that simple!

Now if you plan to display a Social Wall of hashtags from Twitter or Instagram we have you covered. You simply enter the hashtag in the dashboard and we even have the option for you to moderate and only display hashtag posts that you choose.

Designing the Social Wall for maximum impact is an important step for getting the most out of your Social Wall. You want to ensure that your content is engaging and stands out from the crowd. You can do this by making sure the design of the wall is visually appealing by taking up our custom branding Social Wall package. With this custom package, we will include the following:

• Added the company symbol (spinning) when the page loads and refreshes
• Added a background image when the page loads and refreshes or even
• Changed the font style
• Add sponsorship and banners to the social wall
• Changed the colours of the Social Media sections to fall in line with the website colour palette. We can use any branding guidelines you may have.

Once you have set up the Social Wall you need to promote and share the wall with your audience. If it’s at an event, you can display a digital signage screen at the entrance.  This is the easiest way to get your content seen.

Social Wall is a great way to promote your social media posts and increase your engagement. Having a social wall allows you to curate content from multiple sources and display it in one place, giving your followers a single destination to find all your latest news and updates. By adding a social wall to your website or at an event, you can extend your reach, boost your brand visibility, and engage your audience in a meaningful way.

Displaying a Social Wall using OBS (Open Broadcaster Software) or with any other digital signage software is easy. Using OBS and Social Wall for displaying your business social media posts for an event, exhibition or live stream can make the experience more engaging. Using any Social Wall at an event will bring together the social media posts and display them on any digital medium. This will enhance the event experience by adding interactivity and personal connections with people who are in attendance and possibly those who are unable to attend but are participating via a live stream.

As more and more people are spending time online, social media is playing a larger role in the events and exhibition industry. Not only does it give visitors a way to share their thoughts and opinions on specific topics, but it can also help you to build an interactive and engaging experience. If you’re wondering how to incorporate social media into your next event or exhibition then Social Wall is the answer. You can use Social Wall to create social media walls filled with social posts from various social media platforms. It is a great way to engage visitors and prompt discussion by using hashtags. Our Social Wall has been displayed on large video LED walls to simple digital signage stands and in some cases even used at live streaming events to connect and display social media content at different locations. By using our custom post feature, you can even specific content to the Social Wall and it will not be displayed on your social media accounts. This is a great way to show off posts such as announcing competition winners, directional wayfinding and product or service promotions to visitors who are attending the event.

What is OBS and how can you use it for a Social Wall? Open Broadcaster Software (OBS) is a free-to-use video streaming and recording software. It can stream to YouTube, Twitch, Facebook and many more streaming platforms. Using OBS to stream social media posts creates a live feed that you can then push into the digital signage software.

Here are the steps to adding a Social Wall in OBS:

• Go to the Social Wall dashboard by entering your username and password. There is a step-by-step guide if you need to set up the Social Wall: STEP BY STEP SOCIAL WALL GUIDE
• Copy the URL displayed in the Your Social Wall (for secure websites use HTTPS) field
• Open the OBS software
• Add a new Scene and give it a name such as Social Wall
• Add a browser source and give it a name such as Social Wall
• Paste the URL in the URL field
• Set the Width to your desired screen resolution. If you’re using a Full HD screen the resolution will be 1920 in width and 1080 in height. If you don’t know what the screen resolution go to this page and it will tell you what it is: WHAT IS  MY SCREEN RESOLUTION?
• Press OK to save the browser source
• Click on Stream to live stream the Social Wall

Here’s an article on how to do this step by step with image instructions: HOW TO ADD A SOCIAL WALL IN OBS

Here’s a video showing the steps:

If you are having issues accessing or linking your Facebook Pages to Social Wall then you may want to read this post. Over the past few years, Facebook has been making changes to the way Facebook Business Pages are managed which includes making sure a personal Facebook account is associated with a Facebook Page admin. This left many Facebook Business Pages be in limbo as they were originally created using grey accounts. These gray account were originally created for the purpose of being shared across a business however as per the Facebook terms and conditions this is no longer acceptable. There was a period of time this also caused issues for people logging in as a gray account and the result was a page displaying an error with FACEBOOK TOO MANY REDIRECTS ERROR. The fix for this error was pretty straight forward as you can see from the video below however, Facebook made some changes and either made it more difficult for people to fix the issue or it caused other problems.

If you were one of the lucky ones to be able to fix the Facebook Too Many Redirect issue you should have been able to see the new Facebook dashboard interface and then be able to manage your Facebook Business Page. Keep in mind, that if you want to use Social Wall with your Instagram business account, you need to link your Facebook Business Page to the Instagram profile. You can read more about this in the Social Wall Step By Step Instruction Page

In addition to the Facebook redirect issue, last year some users also experienced a Facebook Account Unavailable error message. This was a more complex issue and there were multiple ways to fix this and it was also related to gray accounts. The article does provide some solutions on how to resolve this issue and the main fix is to use one of the methods listed and add a personal Facebook account as an admin. You can also watch this video to show you how to fix the issue.

Now, if you haven’t encountered any of the above issues then you’re in luck! You can easily link and display your Facebook Business posts on Social Wall.

Is your Social Wall provider no longer displaying your Instagram posts? This is probably due to the recent Instagram Legacy API change, where the Basic Permission was discontinued from the 29th of June 2020. We previously mentioned about this change in one of our earlier posts FIXED: INSTAGRAM API CHANGES AFFECTING SOCIAL WALL

Several years ago, our Social Wall solution has already migrated to the Instagram Graph API and is able to display the Instagram posts. If your current solution is “broken”, and you’re unable to display your Instagram posts, contact us to see how we can help you get your Social Wall up and running again.

Instagram has changed the way you use their API – actually you can’t use their native Instagram API anymore for some functions and they have forced developers and apps to use the Facebook Graph API. In particular, if you want to display specific Instagram hashtags then you must use the Facebook Graph API. The process of displaying Instagram profile posts and hashtags is a bit more convoluted now and we wanted to detail the steps on how to add your Instagram Account to Social Wall here. Before you add your Instagram account to Social Wall you must make sure you have completed the following:

Make sure you have an Instagram Business account. To check whether you have an Instagram business account open up the Instagram app on your mobile phone. Tap the menu button (3 bars). Tap on settings and scroll down to see whether you have a heading called Business Tab. If you don’t have this tab then you will see Switch to business account/Sign up for a business profile. Tap on those and follow the prompts.

Associate/Link your Instagram Business account to the Facebook Page. You need to have a Facebook Page setup and linked to the Instagram Business account. If you don’t have a Facebook Page for your business we suggest you create one. To check if they are linked login to the Facebook Page and click on Settings – Click on Instagram and you will see whether your Instagram profile information is linked. If it’s not linked, then follow the prompts to link it.

Steps to display your Instagram profile posts and Instagram hashtags

NOTE: Facebook/Instagram has restricted it’s Facebook API to only display hashtags within a 24 hour period. Meaning if you’re looking for a hashtag that is more than 24 hours it will not be there.

Login to Social Wall

Click on the Instagram Tab

You will see the Log in With Facebook button

Make sure you are logged into Facebook and you’re using the account that is linked to the Facebook Page (as per the above checklist, make sure the Facebook Page is linked to the Instagram Business Account)

Click on the Log in With Facebook and a popup window will be displayed asking for Facebook access.

Press the blue Continue as xxx. NOTE: our app does not post to Facebook or Instagram

If you have multiple Facebook associated to your Facebook account select the correct one from the drop down list

If you want to display the Instagram Profile posts select “Display Profile posts”

If you want to display posts using a specific hashtag then type the hashtag keywords in the hashtag field (you can only type the hashtag once you have authenticated with your Facebook account)

Leave the post limit to 10. This is the number of posts to display from Instagram. The more posts, the longer it will take to display.

Click on Submit
Go back to the Account tab and then select Instagram from the list

Note, Facebook has set a specific limit to the number of Facebook Graph API calls for Instagram and therefore we suggest not to refresh your Social Wall to frequently e.g refresh every 30 minutes. If the limit is reached then Instagram posts will no longer be displayed

Remove Social Wall app from Facebook Page account

If you want to remove the Social Wall from your Facebook account, simply login to your Facebook account then click on setting and click on Business Integrations. You will see Social Wall as one of the app.

Select the checkbox and click on Remove.

If you need help with setting up your Instagram account on Social Wall let us know.

Do you want to promote your business products, services, calendar events, blog articles and anything that is in an RSS feed onto a Social Wall? We now have the feature to display posts from any RSS feed (atom/XML files). NOTE: This feature is only available as part of the Custom Branding package.

There are many opportunities and endless possibilities when using the RSS feed and we want to share some quick case studies in this post.

Display Blog Posts on the Social Wall

If you have a WordPress website with an RSS feed, you can easily display these posts on the Social Wall. The Social Wall can then be embedded on any website to help promote some of your digital content.

Here’s an example from Veggie Meals using the Social Wall to display their blog posts on their Social Wall:

Display Product Feeds on the Social Wall

If you own an eCommerce store then you’re in luck. With our new RSS feed feature, you can now display your products or discounted/featured items on the Socia Wall along with your Social Media posts. This is the perfect setup for those retail business with digital signage screens located on their premises as the content can be updated with dynamic content. Why not promote both Social Media posts and product items.

Display Calendar Events on the Social Wall

Display calendar events from a booking or scheduling system can now be easily achieved using the RSS feed feature. This is an example using the feed from My Booking Manager.

How to use the RSS feed feature

As mentioned before, Social Wall administrators can configure the Social Wall as part of the Custom Branding solution. We will work with you to gather the RSS feed details such as the URL and what information from the RSS feed you want to display on the Social Wall. Here’s what we do in the backend, we map the Social Wall fields with the fields from the RSS feed.

We can also add multiple RSS feeds if you have more than one.

If you would like to try out this feature let us know and we can organise a trial.

How to use Social Media Walls

The post HOW TO USE A SOCIAL MEDIA WALL FOR EVENTS appeared first on Social Wall.

The market is filled so many social media management and marketing tools, that frankly, it can get very confusing. No two tools are ideal for the same use-case with each carrying their own distinct set of features and functionalities.

As such, it is up to the user to understand what they require and select a tool accordingly. This can lead to a lot of research work which can take up a lot of time – time which you could otherwise have spent on marketing and management directly.

This is why we have done the research for you. For the purpose of this read, we have short-listed all the top social media management tools in the market and mentioned all their key features and functionalities. This will help you get an overview of all your options, and pick the one that best suits the bill. We have not included pricing for each tool since they are constantly changing all the time. Please note our Social Wall tool is not a Social Media Management tool as it only displays Social Media content but we do have the feature to moderate hashtags, block specific users and filter posts based on keywords.

So without further ado, let’s get started:

Agora Pulse

Agora Pulse is another one of the all-in-one social media platforms which you can use to schedule posts, respond to users, and generate reports and feedbacks about your overall campaigns. The tool can also help fetch information about your competitors and Facebook Contest apps.

HubSpot

HubSpot is an all-in-one marketing software, and its social media management tools are a part of its exhaustive offering. It can help you integrate all your marketing endeavours, including, but not limited to, Social Media, SEO, Emails, and CRM.

The tool can also help you compare results and performance across your different marketing channels. This can help you get an idea of your social ROI.

HootSuite

HootSuite is one of the most popular Social Media Management tool used by over 15 million users including 800 of the Fortune 1000 Companies. It is essentially an all-in-one platform which allows you to create content, schedule their deployment, measure ROI stats, run ad campaigns, and much more.

The tool also gives you a great deal of control. For example, you will be able to monitor multiple accounts and keywords. It is also rich on the compatibility front with support for over 35 different social networks.

Sprout Social

If you want your Social Media Management tools to come with CRM functionalities as well, then Sprout Social is an excellent option. You can create and maintain a complete profile of your customers which will allow you to serve them better.

Another one of its strong suits would be its detailed reporting which are comprehensive and easy to interpret.

Buffer

Buffer helps to drive meaningful engagement that generates results on Social Media. The tool comes with a suite of functionalities which can be used for publishing, engagement, analytics, and team collaboration.

The UI is extremely clean and intuitive which makes it easy to get started with. Also, if you face any issues, the company provides excellent customer support to resolve your problems in a jiffy.

Meet Edgar

Meet Edgar follows a rather different path when it comes to social media management and sharing. It helps you create a library of content divided by various categories and time slots. The tool will then automatically fill up those time slots with the content in your library in a random manner. This brings an element of randomness into the mix.

Our company motto has always been that Social Wall can be displayed on any digital medium and this includes websites, digital signage, digital screens, projectors, mobile phones, tablets and even digital wayfinding systems. In this particular post we want to show you how it works on a digital wayfinding solution and here’s a quick video demonstrating this:

Did you know you can add a video to your Facebook Page cover?

Simply upload a video to your cover which meets these two requirements:

• minimum dimensions: 820×312 (we used video dimensions of 1920×1080)
• duration: 20 seconds minimum and 90 seconds maximum

Facebook will encode the video after you upload it and if the video doesn’t meet these requirements, you will receive an error message.

Using a video over an image is more effective as it’s more engaging and it provides a richer experience to the viewer.

We added a video of our Social Wall and Instagram nametag on our Facebook Page cover and it looks pretty good. Click here to see it in action: https://facebook.com/socialwallau/

To upload a video just follow these simple instructions:

• Login to your Facebook account
• Select the Page
• Click on the image icon

• Select the Upload Photo/Video and click on the video you want to upload

• Let Facebook render the video and that’s it.

Did you find the video more engaging that a static image or photo?

Instagram recently released a new feature on their mobile app called Nametag. As the name suggests, you will be able to create a name tag for your Instagram account meaning people will be able to use the scanning feature on Instagram to follow your account. Previously, the only way to follow someone was to search for their username and then select the correct account from the list which proved to be tedious and time-consuming. In addition, there would be accidental typos and people would end up following the wrong accounts – with nametags you will no longer have this issue and it’s so much faster to use.

With this feature, you can add the nametag to Social Wall so people at the event or visiting your website can quickly follow you. We’ve created a quick example of how you can set this up:

We used our AdvertiseMe.TV solution to create this custom branding template which included the Social Wall in the middle left-hand side, custom header and footer with two logos at each bottom corner and an image of our clients’ logos in the middle right-hand side of the template. We also used the single post highlighting feature to zoom in and display one single post.

Here’s the result, just watch this sort video:

HOW TO CREATE AND SCAN A NAMETAG

Here’s also a few instructions on how to create your own nametag and then use the scanning feature:

Login to your Instagram account on your mobile phone. Press on the menu button

You will see your nametag on the top right-hand side of the screen

To customise the nametag press on the nametag. You can edit the nametag by changing the colours, by swiping in any direction or you can add emoji or add your own selfie image by tapping the COLOUR/EMOJI/SELFIE button at the top.

Weddings are meant to not only capture the intimate moments with your soon to be husband or wife but also with your family and friends. To achieve this why not use a Social Wall for your wedding event! We’ve provided some basic instructions and tips on how to use a Social Wall for your wedding so give it a try.

Or watch this quick video to see it in action:

YOUR SOCIAL MEDIA ACCOUNTS OR HASHTAGS

Create a new Social Media account that you and your partner (even possibly your bridal party, photographer, videographer) can use leading up to the event. Build a story leading up to the day of the wedding and start sharing memorable moments. For example, share your pre-wedding photo shoots, your engagement photos, places where you’ve been together or even share some interesting information guest didn’t know about both of you.

Besides creating the Social Media accounts, you can also start using Hashtags and share it with your friends and family members so they can start contributing to the Social Wall by using the hashtag in their posts. Think of a unique hashtag that is not too long. For example, harrymegan2018, hmwedding2018.

We recommend checking the hashtag to see if it’s being used. If you add the year or month it will less likely be used. To check if anyone has used the hashtags go to Twitter search and type it in the hashtag:

Hopefully, the Twitter search will return with 0 results.

Do the same search on Instagram (we only display hashtags from Twitter and Instagram).

If you’re really keen on using that hashtag even though there are search results (yes you do get people who do typos and enter the wrong names), then don’t stress out as there are probably other more important wedding tasks to stress over. Our hashtag moderation feature in the Social Wall dashboard will allow you to filter and approve which hashtag posts you want to display on your Social Wall… we’ve got your back. If someone else is using your hashtag then you’re still in control as to which posts to display on your Social Wall.

Now that you have the Social Media account and thought of the hashtags to use, add them to the Social Wall (if you don’t have a Social Wall account then try it out by clicking here)

Login to the dashboard and click on the Instagram or Twitter tab and enter the hashtag e.g harrymegan2018

If you want to moderate the hashtags then use the hashtag moderation feature by clicking on the Hashtag Moderation tab:

Click on Enable Moderation then click on the OFF button to display them on the Social Wall. If the button is green and says ON then it is displaying on the Social Wall.

For more information on how to use this feature then click here or read the Step By Step Guide.

When combined with the Single Post Highlighting feature (available as part of the custom branding package) it will look like this:

CUSTOM POSTS

Our Social Wall solution allows you to also add custom posts, meaning these posts will not be published on any of your Social Media accounts. They can be used for display message to guests who are at the Wedding event. Here’s an example:

To add a custom post follow the below steps or read these instructions here

Click on Custom Posts in the Dashboard

Click on Choose File and then select the image you want to display on the Social Wall

Select the image you want to add and then click on Submit

Refresh your Social Wall or wait for the refresh interval and you’re done – how easy was that!

CUSTOM BRANDING

We are also able to custom brand the complete Social Wall and make it more engaging by using our AdvertiseMe.TV solution to add different elements and layouts.

Here are a few examples:

‘

CREATE ENGAGEMENT WITH GUEST BY USING SELFIE FRAMES

To encourage your guest to take photos and use the social media hashtag use “Selfie Frames” like the one below and leave them near the entrances of the venue:

Ask your guests to take photos and then use the hashtag – if you want to take it to another level then wrap this engagement with prizes for those who use the hashtag. For those that can’t make it to your event tell them to follow the Social Wall by providing them with the link so that they can see the latest updates and photos of your event.

KEEP YOUR SOCIAL WALL FOR MEMORIES

If you want to save and archive your Social Wall we can do that too. We understand that many Wedding couples would like to keep it for memorabilia and to show their kids so leave that with us.

The post HOW TO USE A SOCIAL WALL FOR YOUR WEDDING appeared first on Social Wall.

As part of the Events or Custom Branding package, we have a feature to only display posts based on a date range. So if you wanted to display posts from a certain day or date range then we can easily filter this based on our date range feature.

All you need to do is tell us (the Social Wall team) the date range and we take care of the rest. We simply select “Display posts by Date range” and enter the FROM and TO date and click submit. Our system filters the social wall posts based on this date range.

So for example, if you had a wedding celebration (whether it’s your wedding, friends, a client or whoever) and you set up a social wall with the hashtag #wedding2018 and only wanted to display posts on the day of the wedding then you can easily do this with this feature. You will also be able to moderate the hashtags since we also have this feature!

If you know someone who has a wedding coming up let them know about Social Wall and make their wedding celebrations more SOCIAL!!!

You can use it for pretty much any type of event, Birthdays, Weddings, Anniversary, Holidays, Business Events, Exhibitions, Charities, Marathon Events, Concerts and the list goes on.

The post HOW TO ADD YOUR INSTAGRAM ACCOUNTS TO SOCIAL WALL appeared first on Social Wall.

Our Social Wall team just wanted to inform you that due to some sudden Instagram API changes on April 4th 2018 (US time), the Social Wall is unable to display Instagram posts. Instagram has removed the feature of being able to display the Instagram public posts from their API.

We apologise for any frustration or inconvenience caused. Unfortunately, Instagram gave no warning that these changes would be coming into effect and we want to assure you that our team is currently working at ways to resolve this issue. We will let you know as soon as we have a solution but in the meantime, we suggest you display posts from other Social Media Platforms such as Facebook, Twitter.

Below is the information Instagram has posted on their Developer Page:

The post INSTAGRAM API CHANGES AFFECTING SOCIAL WALL appeared first on Social Wall.

Facebook has introduced a feature called Face Recognition. This enables Facebook to go through photos and videos (either your friends or ones you’ve taken) and Facebook automatically tags them if it recognises your face. It’s a pretty cool feature to have, but for those of you who are worried about your privacy then we recommend you disable this. Note that Facebook is rolling this out to everyone so you may not have this option yet but make sure to bookmark this page so you can come back to these instructions.

By default, this is enabled, you need to follow these steps to disable this feature:

INSTRUCTIONS FOR WEB BROWSER (SCROLL DOWN FOR MOBILE APP INSTRUCTIONS)

• Login to Facebook and click on the down arrow at the top right-hand side

• Click on Settings

• Click on Face Recognition on the left-hand panel

• Select NO under Do you want Facebook to be able to recognize you in photos and videos?

INSTRUCTIONS FOR FACEBOOK MOBILE APP

• Open the Facebook App and tap on the menu button (3 lines)

• Tap on account settings

• Tap on Face Recognition Settings

• Tap on the Face Recognition Question

• Tap on No

If you found this useful share it with your friends and if want to receive more useful Social Media tips and tricks, then don’t forget to subscribe to our newsletter.

The post SOCIAL WALL FACEBOOK TIP – DISABLE FACE RECOGNITION appeared first on Social Wall.

People share all sorts of content on social media. They share news articles, funny memes, photos, viral videos etc. But they also use it to share their thoughts and opinions about a variety of topics.

For this reason, social media can be a powerful tool that can capture what people think about a particular topic or event at a particular time. For example, the recent #metoo movement was highly successful at getting people to provide their individual stories to support victims of sexual assault and harassment. It called out bad behaviour and highlighted the need to speak about the taboo subject. It gained momentum quickly and it became a banner to rally support.

What’s great about social media is that at any one time you can scan what’s going on by searching hashtags or keywords or by displaying all this information on a Social Wall. When you can combine individual posts, tweets and hashtags in a single location you can get a sense of how groups may share an experience or a view or how groups may differ in their views and it’s priceless from a marketing or research perspective. Here’s a screenshot of moderated #metoo hashtags:

For example, positive posts, tweets and hashtags about a particular brand or product as part of a promotional campaign can be invaluable to a company trying to build or maintain their brand. If one person tweets about a bad experience about a product and they are influential to their followers, then this can be as bad as a personal bad experience with the product. However, if a group of people talks positively about their experience with the product on social media or even ‘like’ a brand or product, this is seen as a personal endorsement without any additional work from the company selling the product. By collating this sort of information together it creates a momentum. You can do the search yourself or you can use Social Wall to do the work for you.

You can use the data collected from social media to predict trends, moods and even the behaviour of people. The data can be used to build marketing campaigns, change the minds of people as well as ‘nudge’ people a certain way. For example, an event management company may send out update emails to attendees to get them excited about the event however it’s a one-way street and there is no immediate response from attendees. An event management company being able to capture and share the excitement of the attendees prior to the event through social media helps to promote the event but also helps build the momentum for people attending the event because they can express how they feel directly. Here’s a case study of using Social Wall at an event: Social Wall ICON GROUP Christmas Events

You may not know whether the information on social media is 100% accurate (people do lie or get paid to say they like a product or endorse a brand) but people tend to speak their mind more on social media than any other medium.

You don’t have to use social media as a tool but it’s an easy and inexpensive way to gather valuable intelligence.

You can change these settings in the dashboard in the General Tab:

The hashtag moderation feature on the Social Wall is a must use tool for any event or exhibition. This feature allows you to moderate and display particular social media posts from Twitter and/or Instagram which are related to a particular hashtag. Watch the following video or follow the below instructions if you want to use this feature:

Login to your Social Wall account and click on the Twitter or Instagram tab. Add the hashtag you want to display on the Social Wall

Click on the Hashtag Moderation tab and then click on Enable Moderation

Wait for a few seconds and a list will start displaying Twitter or Instagram posts relating to that hashtag.

For each particular post, you will see the OFF and ON button in the Display Column. Click on the OFF button to toggle to ON and this will display that particular post on the Social Wall. If the OFF button is shown then it is not being displayed on the Social Wall.

Auto Refresh – this will refresh the list in the Hashtag Moderation Tab every x min so you don’t have to basically click on the refresh button or refresh the page to see any new hashtags. So every x minutes the list will refresh and it will go down to the first post that is set to OFF so you can moderate

You can also press the Refresh button to manually refresh the list

Display All – when ON has been pressed, all the posts in the hashtag moderation list will be set to ON, meaning they will be displayed on the Social Wall. This is just a quick way to set all the post to display on the Social Wall. If OFF is set then all the hashtag posts will be set to OFF and will not be displayed. Please note for a list that has many posts this may take a while to automatically set them to ON.

Action – the clear button resets the hashtag moderation list so that it’s blank. You can use this when changing hashtags and just need to clear the list. Submit is when you make a change it send the information.

Block User – block user will cause the username no to be displayed on the hashtag moderation list and on the Social Wall. You can use this if you see constant spam posts from this particular user and just want to block this user from displaying

Here are a few case studies using the Hashtag Moderation feature:

When you need to engage with visitors attending an event or exhibition, the event organiser needs to jump on board with using Social Wall to display social media content posted by visitors from the event. DISPLAY YOUR SOCIAL WALL ON ANY DIGITAL DEVICE

When we first started building our Social Wall product, the idea was to be able to use one Social Wall across multiple digital devices, mediums or locations. We believe we have achieved this and we wanted to share how one of our clients is doing this.

CLIENT: HCCU - Holiday Coast Credit Union

SOCIAL WALL LOCATIONS: INTRANET, WEBSITE AND DIGITAL SCREEN

INTRANET

HCCU is displaying the Social Wall on the staff portal. It was important to display promotions and information to customer facing staff especially to make staff aware of special offers and promotions that the marketing team was running. Have a read of this case study: CASE STUDY: HOLIDAY COAST CREDIT UNION INTRANET INTEGRATION WITH SOCIAL WALL

WEBSITE

HCCU recently revamped their website and they made the decision to feature the Social Wall on the home page of the hccu.com.au website. If you look at the bottom of the website,  you will notice the Social Wall. Basically, the Social Wall provides visitors with the experience that it is integrated as part of the website rather than being sourced by an external party. With the scrolling effect on the Social Wall, it also grabs the visitors’ attention and keeps the users up to date with all their promotions and social media announcements.

DIGITAL SCREEN

HCCU is also displaying Social Wall on one of their internal digital screens. The Social Wall is used so that the contact centre can see everything the marketing team posts to their followers on Twitter and Facebook. This includes offers, inspirations, events etc.

So in summary, the same Social Wall was displayed on 3 digital locations!

Christmas is just around the corner and we decided to up our game and create a cool and innovative Social Wall for Stinky The Pig. By using our Custom Branding package, we were able to change the way the Social Wall looked and here’s a list of changes we made:

• Added the snowing effect on the Social Wall – yes, feel the spirit of Christmas. Now, we can even add different custom effects depending on your requirements

• Display the Stinky The Pig logo (spinning) when the page loads and refreshes. We can even flip the logo or do some cool and amazing things with it.

• Randomly display several background images when the page loads and refreshes. Also, instead of an image we could also change it to a specific colour or if you have any other ideas we would love to create it for you

• Here’s a video showing all the different backgrounds:

• Did we mention about one of our awesome features called Custom Posts? We added 3 custom posts with specific Call to Actions and these were:
  • Product showcase linking back to product page on the shop website
  • Link to the free download of the Colour Me In picture
  • Link to the stories category
  • You can do so much more with the Custom Posts!!!

• Changed the font and changes the Social Media colours to be the same as the website branding guidelines. Here’s the before and after shots of the Stinky The Pig Social Wall

• Here’s the live example of the Social Wall or you can visit the Stink The Pig website to see it in action

Displaying social media posts by using hashtags on your Social Wall makes your  digital wall more engaging.

Introducing our new feature, Custom Posts.

Previously, only content on your social media accounts is posted onto your Social Wall. With Custom Posts,  you can add content to your Social Wall without the need to publish posts on your social media accounts. This way your followers will not receive notifications that are not relevant to them but your Social Wall will display what you need.

Custom Posts can include images, text and buttons with links. For example, Custom Posts can be a call to action by including a link to a website.

Custom Posts on your Social Wall are not limited to just your information. You can use Custom Posts to generate income by choosing to display advertisements and start generating some revenue from your Social Wall or you can offer posts from sponsor or affiliates. This is a great idea for events where sponsors have invested money and you want to acknowledge their contribution.

We recently received a notification from Facebook saying someone posted on our Facebook Page. When we checked what the post was about, we quickly had to remove it. The post was in another language and the image posted could have been offensive to some of our Facebook followers, so we had to immediately delete this before our followers viewed it. Because of this experience, we needed to find a way to disable people from posting on our Facebook page as it would have also displayed on our Social Wall. By default, when you create a Facebook Page, you allow any visitor to post anything on your Facebook page. So be careful and we urge you to check your settings and disable this if you don’t want random people posting on your page. To do this, follow these simple steps:

• Login to your Facebook account and go to your Facebook Page
• Click on Settings on the right hand side

• On the General tab, click on the “Visitor Posts” edit link

• Click on “Visitor Posts and select Disable Posts by other people on the Page”

Our recommendation is to always have this disabled, that way you also have more control of what is also being displayed on your Social Wall. If you do want visitors to post on your Facebook page then at least make sure you have the setting “Review posts by other people before they are published on the page” selected, so at least you can approve the posts before they are published.

If you found this article useful please share it around so others will benefit.

If you’re embedding your Social Wall on a website and need it to be positioned in the middle of the page, you can use the following HTML example to do this:

<div align=”middle”>

<iframe  src=”http://socialwall.com.au/social-feed/82aedaf885b3142a8c31fdae0f6068a2″ width=”800″ height=”600″  scrolling=”no” ” frameborder=”0″> </iframe>

</div>

Simply, create a div tag with the attribute align=”middle” and this will position the Social Wall frame to be in the middle. The other attributes are, left, right, middle, top and bottom.

This is how the Social Wall looks like without the div align code (by default it aligns to the left):

We decided to create another Free Social Wall and this time it’s relating to the Census in Australia. Last night, people in Australia were not able to submit their information on the Census ABS website because the servers crashed. Many were frustrated and took their frustration out on Social Media – some are funny and we thought we just wanted to share this on a Social Wall. We hope you see the humour around this little incident.

If you want to add this Social Wall on your website or digital platform then use the following code, we have used Twitter and Instagram hashtags #censusfail:

<p style=”text-align: center;”><iframe src=”https://socialwall.com.au/social-feed/4aaf12ef33f57834792f5db4b7d6c992″ width=”100%” height=”800px” frameborder=”0″ scrolling=”no”></iframe><em><strong>Powered by <a href=”&quot;http://socialwall.com.au”>Social Wall</a></strong></em></p>

In a previous post titled ‘How to create a username for your Facebook Page‘, we detailed the steps required for creating a Facebook Page Username. However, for those of you who have recently created a Facebook page by clicking on the ‘Create Page @Username’:

Then entered a unique username (Facebook confirmed that it can be used – green tick) like the one below and pressed the Create Username button:

But you end up receiving the message Username isn’t Available – This Page isn’t eligible to have a username like below

What this basically means is that you do not have enough Facebook Page Likes to be able to create the username. I don’t understand why Facebook couldn’t have mentioned that in the error message as it’s very misleading. Facebook has a requirement to have at least 25  Facebook Page likes before you can create a username. Wished that it was clear so people don’t have to search around for the answer.

Yalari is a not-for-profit organisation that offers quality, secondary education scholarships at leading Australian boarding schools for Indigenous children from regional, rural and remote communities.

Yalari hosted its 9th Annual Fundraising Dinner at the Doltone House, Hyde Park Sydney.  The aim of the event was to catch-up with their supporters and to let everyone know about what’s been happening over the past year.

The Yalari team wanted to use Social Media to engage and interact with the attendees and display these social media posts on the projectors in the function room.

As a result, we provided a custom solution that allowed the Yalari team to quickly update announcements from their mobile phones onto the projector as well as display their Social Wall with custom branding.

Our solution offering consisted of using two of our products: Social Wall and AdvertiseMe.TV. The Social Wall product was used to display their Social Media posts from Facebook and Twitter and also posts using the Twitter hashtag #YalariSD16. So when an attendee used the hashtag #YalariSD16 in their twitter post, it will automatically display on the Social Wall. Here’s a few screenshots of the solution:

The Yalari team was able to include some branding into the Social Wall page, by adding a custom header at the top of the page and a custom announcement at the bottom. Here’s a screenshot of the AdvertiseMe.TV dashboard:

Overall, we received positive feedback from using Social Wall at this event and the client was impressed with our services as we made ourselves available to make last minute changes before and during the actual event. We were more than happy to be involved with this great initiate and event.

TESTIMONIAL

“I contacted the team at Social Wall to run a Social Wall for the Yalari charity dinners. The team was very friendly, professional and passionate about helping us at any time of day. The night of the charity dinners, the support team was on-hand to troubleshoot any technical issues. Afterwards, in the aim of continuous improvement, the team made suggestions to improve and customise the Social Wall platform for the next charity dinner. The Social Wall was an interesting addition to the dinner events. It added colour and fun to the event. I highly recommend the team at Social Wall, particularly Marco and look forward to working with them again.” – Emmanuelle

Everyone seems to be going crazy over Pokemon Go so we decided to create a Social Wall for the hashtag #PokemonGO

If you don’t have it yet, you can simply go to the App Store and Google Play and search for “Pokemon Go”. It is currently only Available in Australia and New Zealand.

Some posts are ridiculously funny, especially the places where the Pokemon’s are appearing. For those who are playing, just remember to make sure you watch where you walk!

The Social Wall below is a quick and easy way to check what other people are posting about Pokemon Go. Use the hashtag #pokemongo and you might see your post here!

Powered by Social Wall

If you want to embed the same Social Wall on your site, simply use the following code:

We had interest from some of our clients to be able to add their Social Wall to their secure websites (HTTPS) and we’re happy to announce this option is now available. To be able to do this all you need to do is to change the URL of your Social Wall, from HTTP to HTTPS. It’s that simple. Here are the steps:

• Login to your Social Wall dashboard
• Go to your Social Wall URL and copy the URL.

• Change the URL so that it now starts with https:// instead of http:

For example, if your Social Wall URL is http://socialwall.com.au/social-feed/82aedaf885b3142a8c31fdae0f6068a2 change this to https://socialwall.com.au/social-feed/82aedaf885b3142a8c31fdae0f6068a2

Customer service is one of our highest priorities. Our aim is to not only develop the best and easiest Social Wall available on the market but we want to be also the most engaging and responsive team available. We want to be more interactive with the way we communicate with our visitors and clients. So what we’ve done is scoured the Internet for the most cost-effective (FREE) way to include a chat feature on our website and dashboard so we can quickly and easily communicate with our visitors. By sheer luck, we found one and fell in love with it. It’s called TAWK.TO and not only is it FREE but it’s very powerful and intuitive.

Setting up and installing the widgets took less than 5 minutes and the whole process was quite intuitive and easy to follow. Our website uses the WordPress CMS for the front end and they created a plugin widget you can easily install and configure. For the backend, we just needed to paste the code into the header of the site and that was it. At the bottom right-hand corner, you will see the Chat Now – Online box like the below screen, all you will need to do is click on it and then enter your details to start chatting with a member of our team. If you don’t see this chat box, it probably means we are not available to chat because we are all sleeping or just busy (another cool feature) but don’t worry you can always send us a message and we will receive it via email.

So, for all our visitors and users of Social Wall feel free to contact us via chat if that’s more convenient for you. Once again big shout out to the team at TAWK for an excellent job in creating this awesome chat tool.

Instagram is the most popular photo sharing tool – Facebook  made the right choice in purchasing this for $1 billion dollars. If you’re looking at using Instagram on your social wall you will need to know what you user ID is. Many of the other social platforms, the user ID is normally the username for example socialwallAU. However, Instagram is a little bit different. The user ID is actually a number rather than the username. So in your dashboard, we have included a link to a tool to lookup your username based on the user ID.

Just enter your username and then enter this in the Social Wall.

Done! Now that was easy.

The simplest way to show your Social Wall is to enter your Social Wall URL in a web browser. By using Chrome Web extensions the process is even much easier! To demonstrate how easy it is to display a Social Wall we decided to create a Chrome Web Extension Demo that displays our Social Wall content. All you need to do is go to Chrome Web Store and search for Social Wall or click here.

Click on Add to Chrome on the top right hand corner.

Click on Add app.

Click on Launch App

The Chrome web extension will now load the Social Wall Demo content.

If you want to start the Chrome web extension or your Social Wall URL on startup and full screen then we would recommend you use a tool such as Launcher Dock. Read this article here.

For our registered members, if you want to create your own Social Wall Chrome Web Extension let us know. For a small fee we can develop your own Social Wall custom Chrome Web Extension and publish this on the Chrome Web Store.

Responsive is a widely used term to describe a website designed for Smartphone Mobiles, Tablets and Desktops/Personal Computers. If you visit this website (socialwall.com.au) on your computer and then on your mobile phone you will notice that it will look different on both devices. That’s because it’s responsive. The elements and layouts contained on the website are different for various devices – this is actually also how we built our social wall platform. We have an option in the Social Wall dashboard to make your social wall Responsive – meaning if you set up your social wall to display 4 columns it will automatically adjust itself to display 1 column if viewed on a mobile phone. A 4 column social wall will not display well on a mobile phone hence the reason why it will automatically display 1 column if Responsive is selected. Here are the steps to make your Social Wall Responsive:

• Login to your Dashboard and click on the General Tab
• Click on Yes under Responsive

Done! It’s that simple. Our system then takes care of the rest.

WordPress Pages/Posts

In WordPress, you have the option to create a WordPress Pages or Posts. Pages are not associated to time so they are more static. As an example the Contact Us section of this website is a Page whereas this article is a Post (a blog entry). Adding your Social Wall to your Page or Post is pretty much the same process.

Here’s the steps needed to display  your Social Wall on your WordPress Page/Post:

• On the Page/Post, click on the Text Tab. In this example we are using a Page with the title Social Wall.

• Login to your Social Wall Dashboard and copy the iFrame Code For WordPress. You will notice that this iFrame hides/disabled the scrolling.

• Paste the iFrame code into the text area like below. You can paste it in any location that you want. You will notice that you can specify the dimensions of the iFrame by changing the pixel sizes.

• You can then modify the width and height of the iFrame to suit your page or even set the Social Wall to responsive mode and it will dynamically change the size to fit your website.

WordPress Widgets

WordPress widgets are a quick and easy way of adding content or features to predefined locations on your website. Today we are releasing another new feature to Social Wall. This feature allows you to set an auto wall refresh to your Social Wall, meaning the list of social posts will refresh at a specific time interval. You can set this in the dashboard under the General Tab.

Select Yes

Enter the number of seconds and click on Submit

Your Social Wall will now refresh at the interval you have set. We do recommend that you don’t refresh the page wall too often because it does take a few seconds for the Social Wall to load. 300 seconds which is 5 minutes should be sufficient. If you don’t update publish new posts on your social media platforms then set this 1 day.

Today we are releasing our Step by Step User Guide and you can find this here. There is also a link at the top of the Social Wall website:

Or if you are already on the Social Wall dashboard, there is a link in the footer.

This guide details all the steps required to get your Social Wall up and running and believe it or not, it takes less than 3 minutes to start displaying your Social Wall.

You probably don’t even need to read the user guide because it’s just that easy to configure your Social Wall. We are also thinking of adding videos to this user guide so stay tuned for that.

Also, keep a lookout for two new features we will be adding to Social Wall in the next coming weeks, so Subscribe below to receive all these special news and information!

If you’re looking at displaying your Facebook posts on the Social Wall then all you need to know is the username for your Facebook page or profile. All you need to do is inspect the Facebook Page URL. Now this is an example where the page was not setup with a username (this was the default setting when creating a Facebook page). If you want to setup you Facebook page or profile with a username then follow the below steps:

CREATE FACEBOOK USERNAME

Go to https://www.facebook.com/username

The top section is for your personal profile username and the bottom section is for pages. Click on the pages dropdown:

If you manage multiple pages, select the relevant page and then enter the username. In this example, socialwallau was already taken by us so just enter another username and click on check availability.

If it’s unique and hasn’t been used by anyone else then you will be able to create one.

We recommend you use a username for your facebook profile and pages because they are so much easier to remember.

FACEBOOK SETUP ON SOCIAL WALL

These are the steps to add the Facebook username to your Social Wall.

1. Click on the Facebook Tab

2. Enter your Facebook Username

3. Enter the number of posts to display remembering the higher the number the longer it will take to display the posts

4. Click on Submit and you’re done.

Your Social Wall will now display your Facebook posts.

We heard you, we listened and we took action.

A few months ago we announced a new feature to pause the scrolling when the mouse is over the Social Wall posts. This was enabled by default when Auto Scrolling was selected, however some of you wanted to be able to control this Pausing feature. *Drum roll* We are happy to let you know we now added the option to do this by simply clicking on a check box in the Social Wall dashboard:

We hope you like this feature and for those of you who haven’t used Social Wall please let us know – we can give you a 14 Day Fully Functional Trial.

Displaying your social posts on your digital wall is easy with our Social Wall platform. Filtering or moderating what posts are displayed on the Social Wall is even easier. Moderating posts is important when using hashtags on your Social Wall as you don’t want to display posts that may offend your viewers. Follow these steps to use the moderation feature:

1. Login to your Social Wall account

2. Click on the Words Blacklist in the dashboard

3. Enter the words that you want to filter from your Social Wall. For example if you don’t want to display posts that have the word socialwall then add this to the list. To filter posts based on multiple words use commas e.g socialwall, socialmedia. You can also use the wildcard option to filter based on a certain strings e.g social* will filter posts that have the word socialmedia, socialwall. Remember to click on Submit to save the list.

4.  Test by clicking on Preview on the User Dashboard tab.

5. By default, when we create a new account our Social Wall system automatically includes several rude or inappropriate words to the list. You can then delete, modify or update accordingly.
